does it take too much sympathy away from her if she was knowingly breaking the rules?

edit: I have decided to revert her back to the helpless deer in the headlights with sentimental cinderella fluff with a text change.

Let he who has never broken the rules cast the first stone.

I think it makes her a deeper character. She has faults and I don't mind

Better It's better for her to be an "escapee." Makes her seem more repressed.

I think it adds to it since you brought back that 'deer in the headlights'. If you had left her indignant like she was before, she would have just seemed like a brat. Her thoughtfulness in these panels makes me love her as a character, because she makes decisions for better or worse and then has to deal with the consequences.

I agree with Powerpep and the others. Keep her like this, It's more realistic. Self Centered, shes a kid that's all. It makes her flawed. A deer in the headlights reverts her to any old anime girl that lacks substance.

Well, we don't know very much about these rules yet, but they don't seem to make much sense so far (to our human minds). So breaking pointless rules does not make her evil - on the contrary.

But if you make her "don't know the rules" it makes her stupid and the whole plot void.

She should rather be a rebel than a mindless doll (a perfect contrast to her appearance).

I liked it better before, I think...
Not to say it isn't good this way.
I felt she was more "human" before - which... lol... maybe isn't the point.
But even though she knew she was breaking the rules, she was just being average and working hard like a regular person to achieve something she wanted... which I can relate to. Like, "what's so wrong with that?"
